Votiva

Terms of use

Last updated: 4 November 2026 · Español · Português

These terms govern the use of the Votiva app, on iPhone, iPad and Android, and of getvotiva.com. By using Votiva you accept them. We wrote them to be understood; if anything is unclear, write to us at hola@getvotiva.com.

1. Who provides Votiva

Hector Waldman, a sole trader based in Portugal (NIF 316416592, Rua Visconde da Coriscada 86, 6200-154 Covilhã, Castelo Branco, Portugal). On Google Play, Votiva appears under the developer name Apps 369. Contact: hola@getvotiva.com and +54 9 11 7373-5643.

2. What Votiva is

Votiva is a Catholic prayer app. It writes a personal prayer from what you tell it, with a Bible passage chosen from a reviewed list. It also guides the Rosary, the Angelus, the Way of the Cross and novenas, reads prayers aloud and lets you send a prayer to someone else with a link.

Votiva does not replace the prayer of the Church, the sacraments or the guidance of a priest. Nor is it a medical or psychological service. If you are in danger, call your country's emergency number (112 in the European Union).

3. The prayers are written by artificial intelligence

Each personal prayer is written by an artificial intelligence model. The passages come from public-domain Catholic Bibles and are never quoted from memory, but a prayer may contain mistakes or not be what you expected. Read it with discernment, and if something is wrong, report it from the prayer itself.

4. Minimum age

Votiva is for people aged 16 or over.

5. What is free and Votiva Premium

None of this limits your statutory rights as a consumer, including the right of withdrawal where it applies. To exercise it, ask the store where you subscribed or write to us.

6. Limits and changes to the service

So that Votiva reaches everyone and to prevent abuse, there are daily limits, per person and in total. If they are reached, you can ask for another prayer later; the app tells you when. We may improve, change or remove features. If a change takes away something essential that you pay for, we will tell you in the app in advance and you can cancel and ask for a refund of the part you have not used.

7. Acceptable use

Do not use Votiva to:

If these terms are broken, we may block access or disable a link.

8. Prayers you send

You are responsible for what you share and for the name you write: make sure the other person is happy with it. Anyone with the link can read and listen to the prayer. The link stops working after 30 days, and you can delete it earlier in "Sent prayers".

9. Intellectual property

The app, its design, the Votiva brand and its own texts belong to Hector Waldman. The Bible texts are in the public domain: Torres Amat in Spanish, the World English Bible, Catholic edition, in English, and Figueiredo in Portuguese. You may pray, copy and share the prayers Votiva writes for you.

If you downloaded Votiva from the App Store, Apple's standard licence agreement also applies.

10. Liability

We look after Votiva, but we cannot guarantee that it will always work without interruptions or errors. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect damage arising from the use of the app or the prayers. This does not limit liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as for wilful misconduct, gross negligence or personal injury, nor your rights as a consumer.

11. Privacy

How we handle your data is explained in the privacy policy.

12. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update this page and, if the change is significant, tell you in the app before it applies. If you do not agree, you can stop using Votiva and cancel the subscription.

13. Governing law and complaints

These terms are governed by Portuguese law. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the laws of your country of residence and can bring a claim before its courts.

If you have a problem, write to us first at hola@getvotiva.com. For consumer disputes you can turn to the Centro Nacional de Informação e Arbitragem de Conflitos de Consumo (www.cniacc.pt); the list of alternative dispute resolution bodies is at www.consumidor.gov.pt. You can also use the Livro de Reclamações Eletrónico, Portugal's electronic complaints book (www.livroreclamacoes.pt).
